What we represent

TalkAmNaija is an award-winning Inclusive and Participatory Governance platform. Our mission is to be the middleman to deepen Nigeria’s democracy via responsible citizens’ reporting and proactive response and action from concerned authorities. Founded in 2020 and emerging through a keenly competed hackathorn organised by EU-African joint programme on innovative Africa, TalkAmNaija has continued to enjoy increasing followership and acceptance among the teeming Nigerian populace. TalkAmNaija is a social enterprise fully registered in Estonia and operational in Nigeria. Our platform is secured and seamless to access.

Creating a user account

You only have to register once on our platform with a valid email. You can always ask to reset your password in the event you cannot remember it and you don’t have to create a new account in this circumstance. You are free to register as a user if you are at least 18 years old. You may click here to create a user account. By creating a user account on our platform you are also agreeing with our privacy policy. TalkAmNaija may suspend or permanently delete a user account that violates our terms of use and privacy policy, at its discretion, with or without notice.

Responsible reporting

Our platform is for promoting responsible citizenship and accountable governance, therefore, we strongly uphold the culture of transparency and valid reporting. We will not process any report that is deemed inavlid by our admin system. We encourage users to upload valid supporting evidence for their reports and to report only verifiable issues pertinent for action by concerned authorities. We do not allow any supporting evidence (images and videos) older than one week. Any supporting evidence older than one week uploaded during reporting of an incidence shall render the reported issue invalid.

Resolution of reported issues

We do not promise that every issue reported on this platform would be resolved, rather we will ensure that issues are brought promptly to the attention of the relevant authority or agency. The authorities or agencies determine whether the issue can be resolved or not.

Privacy, Personal Data and Cookies

TalkAmNaija strives to comply with Nigerian and EU laws on privacy and data protection and to apply the principles of recognised cross-border data protection procedures. We provide detailed information on what personal data we collect and how we use it and your own rights regarding how we process your data, in our privacy policy. We do not share users’ personal information with any authority responsible for resolving the issues reported via our platform. You are responsible for the security and maintenance of your password and we do not encourage our users to share their passwords or other personal information with a third party. In the event you suspect your password is compromised, we encourage you to change it immediately by clicking “forgot your password?” when signing in. Choose strong passwords and do not include your name and or date of birth in your password. You must contact us immediately if you notice that there has been an unauthorised access into your account. TalkAmNaija is not responsible for any negligence on your part regarding your account security.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are prohibited on our platform, and can result in your account being suspended or terminated, which TalkAmNaija expressly reserves the right to do, and in your being liable for damages to TalkAmNaija, our partners and/or to other users.

  • Gaining or attempting to gain an illegal access to another user’s account.
  • Any activity which is designed to, or is likely to, cause any harm or damage to TalkAmNaija, to other users, to any of TalkAmNaija’s partners or to the Nigerian State.
  • Any attempt to copy, hack or reverse-engineer the code forming duplicate of our Website or any functionality offered by our Website.
  • Any act intended or likely to cause any damage to our Website, its availability on the internet, its underlying software or the reputation of TalkAmNaija or any of our partners, including (but not limited to) denial of service attacks.
  • Uploading or placing on our Website, or any of our partners’ websites fake documents.
  • Any fraudulent, harmful or illegal activity.
  • Any attempt to gain unauthorised access to databases or other resources of TalkAmNaija or its partners.
  • Posting or linking to any content which does not comply in all respects with the content requirements set out in these conditions.
  • Posting of any personal information of any other person without that person’s explicit informed consent.
  • The posting of any commercial or promotional content, or any content which includes promotion of any commercial or business offering, without a specific agreement with TalkAmNaija in that respect.
  • The mounting or promotion of any pyramid scheme or other multi-level marketing scheme.
  • Reproduction, duplication, copying or re-selling any part of any TalkAmNaija website except for good-faith reliance on explicit permission or as otherwise specifically permitted by these Conditions or following the specific and explicit agreement of TalkAmNaija.

Termination

You are free to terminate your User Account at any time by going to Your Account Profile settings. TalkAmNaija may suspend or terminate these services including your access to Your Account Profile with or without prior notice if you are found to violate these Terms of Use, or if you object to the validity of new Terms of Use.

Changes to our Terms of Use

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Use at any time. We will notify you of significant changes to our Terms of Use by sending a notice to the primary email address you specified in your account during registration or by placing a prominent notice on our website. Significant changes will go into effect one week following such notification. Non-material changes or clarifications will take effect immediately. We encourage you to check our website and these Terms of Use for updates.
